Stark County Holds Peace Rally for Justice

Stark County Holds Peace Rally for Justice

On June 1, 2020, the Brothers of Kappa Tau participated in the Stark County Peace Rally for Justice in Canton, Ohio. The event, sponsored by A Coalition of African Americans, was focused on educating the community about social injustice and prompting action for change in the wake of Mr. George Floyd's murder.

The rally was vastly successful as more than 100 citizens attended, and more than a dozen were registered to vote. Members of the National Pan-Hellenic Council, commonly known as the Divine Nine, were called up to be recognized as community advocates. During this time, Bro. Skyler Parks and several members of the Stark County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. had an opportunity to speak to the crowd. They challenged everyone to remain dedicated when it is time to work.

Bro. Parks exemplified true Omega spirit and uplift with his words along with all of the other Brothers that were present. In attendance was Kappa Tau Basileus Bro. Casey Smith, Bro. Rev. Dr. Eric Johnson of Mt. Calvary 2nd Missionary Baptist Church, Bro. Rev. Eric Howard of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Bro. Sean Strong, Bro. Jamar Fleming, and Bro. Rikwon Moore.

Kappa Tau will continue to move forward with being a prominent figure for social justice and change in the Stark County community.
