The fraternity's founders were men whose steps were ordered by the Lord because "Omega" is the conclusion or culmination of a successful journey many men chose as a way of life.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is a professional organization of educated men with similar ideals and like attainments.  The fraternity's founders chose Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift as the cardinal principles that every prospective candidate must possess.  Since the organization's birth, Omega has and will continue to impact the world in every profession and all walks of life.

REQUIREMENTS

Graduate:

  • Must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
    • If the candidate graduated from a university that has an active chapter of Omega Psi Phi, they must wait 48 months after graduation before applying for membership.
    • Any candidate meeting the conditions to be classified as a legacy (father or grandfather who is a financial member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.) has this requirement waived.
  • Sign and notarize the Acknowledgement and Indemnification Agreement Form.
  • Must provide at least one letter of recommendation from a community member in good standing.
  • Submit the Medical Consent and Release Form from a licensed physician taken within the last ninety (90) days.
  • Complete and submit an application for membership through the online portal.
  • Must be sponsored by two (2) MSP-qualified members of the chapter to which he is applying through submitting a Nomination Form.
  • Must have verifiable community participation and activism, church involvement, and leadership experience.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. Because the fraternity emphasizes the selection of men of the highest caliber, you will be interviewed by the Regional Membership Selection Team.  The Regional Membership Selection Team will notify you of the results of your application for candidacy after all interviews have been conducted.
  2. Additionally, the fraternity will perform a criminal background check to ensure that we select men of the highest integrity.  Note: Submission to a polygraph examination may also be required.
  3. Applicants must first navigate the online process.  This process is strictly voluntary, and one's participation does not guarantee membership into the Fraternity.
